We subscribe to Saveur magazine and they just published a neat variation on French toast - Custardy French Toast. It looked like it was worth a try.
Here it is after the pan sauté. Looking promising!
It really did puff up!
And WOW! this was really neat! It was sort of like French Toast stuffed with crème anglaise, which is almost expected. What it’s soaked in is almost exactly The Spruce Eats créme anglaise, with an orange accent added. I just cannot get over this! It’ll definitely be in the at-home brunch rotation.
