April 6 & 7, 2024

Incredible high winds all over Colorado. This time we were sheltered so we didn’t see the 100 mph blast that X-Bar7’s internet relay station saw on the top of the ridge that is just west of us. We topped out at at only a 56 mph gust. Our power went down at 9:51 PM on the 6th and wasn’t restored until 12:22 PM on the 7th. So we were on the generator for 14 hours and 31 minutes! Given the incredible number of outages, I’d say that Poudre Valley REA did a great job!

This was taken after our power was restored, it looks only a little better than at the peak outage. We are in Township 4 north, Range 70 west that the white bubble points to, There are still 15 people in our area whose power hasn’t been restored yet, at the peak some 500 of us were out.

Here was their outage page. The winds were so bad, 70-75 mph with gusts to 100 mph in places, that they had to pull their crews off during the night.
