    Martin’s old Oral B toothbrush finally died a few days ago, so he got the new Oral B iO Series 7 (https://oralb.com/en-us/products/compare/electric-toothbrushes) and Wow!! The Oral B engineers have been busy. This is a completely amazing upgrade! They’ve put in some super sensitive accelerometers that allow them to figure out where you’re brushing and they’ve upgraded the pressure sensor as well. Those upgrades allow the Oral B app to show you where you still need to brush! 

    They also upgraded the drive system to a linear motor so it is now a whole lot quiter and smoother. 

    They wrote quite a paper about everything that went into this new toothbrush series, like almost 250 patents https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9379190/!

Here’s a screen movie of the app in action this morning. As you can see, Martin’s a bit of a klutz, getting both not enough pressure and too much pressure warnings.

This is the Series 7, so it doesn’t have the full color display, but since you can’t see the display when you’re brushing, Martin couldn’t see any reason to go to the top of the iO line.
