    Placing the top steel of the elevator shaft was really tricky. There isn’t any tolerance, so it had to be inched in once the crane had done all it could.

It has to boom over quite a bit, so the 3rd extension has to be pulled out.

Lifting it to the proper height.

The Hougen HMD904 Portable Magnetic Drill was used to drill mounting holes in the flanges of the I beams to bolt the shaft into place.

The start of inching it into place. From here to final position took a couple of hours.

Here’s what it looks like in final position, partially bolted in. The architect had the horizontals match the existing east window horizontals. It looks like it has always been here!
