The first day of demo’ing the walls where the elevator doors will be and the walls where the extra structure to carry the elevator tracks will go.

All the demolition happens with the tent zipped closed, which is how they keep the dust from getting everywhere. Makes it impossible to document ☹️.

Martin was able to sneak in a few shots while the crew was working in another area. This was shot at 8:45 AM.

Here’s the 1st step of the upper level demo. They’ve cut a thin slice completely around the drywall to be removed and around the switch box. This lets them remove the drywall precisely.

Here’s that same area at about 9:30 AM. The drywall removal goes quickly. What’s going to take the rest of the day is removing the blown-in cellulose insulation. It’s behind the fabric. You can see a bit of it at the bottom left where the fabric has been torn.

It’s now 4:30 PM. Here’s how the insulation is removed.

The small area in Martin’s bedroom that had to be demoed was small enough to not need a tent. This is at the same stage, drywall cut away and cellulose retaining fabric intact.

One of the last things done today was putting in this block in the now cleared out space in Martin’s bedroom. This will be what receives one of the track rail bolts.
