This afternoon was definitely excessivly exciting! A really instense squall line of big thunderstorms hit us and knocked out the power!

This was shot at 4:18 PM, when the lightening got close enough to be seen. The rain hasn’t really arrived yet.

This was shot at 4:23 PM, the rain and hail have arrived!

This was shot at 4:27 PM, the rooftop camera’s lens is getting a lot of raindrops on it so the video is a bit blurred. It doesn’t have any sound.

The weather radar from about 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. You can see one of the thunderstorms hit us directly, on the 2nd loop I placed the cursor  where we are.

The power went out at 4:16 pm and stayed out until 6:40 pm, a 2 hour and 24 minute outage.

We did discover something interesting. We were watching TV in the grotto when power came back on and the transfer switches activated to switch us back to mains power. The transfer switches are mounted to the Grotto’s north wall in the lower mechanical room so we sit right next to them and they weren’t very loud at all.

Here’s Pourdre Valley REA’s outage map. Just a few of us in the yellow and green bullseyes were affected. We were in the yellow (21-50 customers affected) area. Selecting the yellow area pops up the details in the top left, exactly 24 customers affected.
