We’re getting a little closer to done on the elevator. Today was the final in-the-wall work, insulating the shaft. Next will be sheetrock and paint.

Spec 7 Insulation parked their big truck out on the driveway and had long hoses to get from the foam mixer to the where the foam was going.

They started on the bottom of the shaft. The 3 hoses are the two different components of the polyurathane foam and the compressed air. The foam gun always leaks some compressed air so that the foam is constantly being cleaned out of the gun before it sets up and clogs the gun.

The bat of pink fiberglass insulation protects the foam from the back of the 4kW electric heater at the bottom the shaft.

They are now at the top of the shaft. The ceiling still has some cellulose blow-in insulation and the foam blew a lot of it out. This was about all that Martin could take. The reaction that cures the foam releases a lot of awful stuff, hence the full face respirator they had to wear. We had the south window walls completely open and the kitchen exhaust hood running at maximum to keep the house livable.
