The first load of elevator hardware arrived today! 3,500 pounds of it! All of the hoist hardware and the cab floor and deck were in this load. The elevator was built by Nationwide Lifts and is their Artisan Custom Elevator Model

The UPS was off the truck early. This is needed so that if a power failure happens when the elevator is moving, the hoist motor and gearbox won’t be damaged.

Here’s the two cable spools. They’re wrapped with 3/8” Aircraft Cable, which has a breaking strengh of about 14,400 pounds.

Here are the tracks. The shaft height requires 3 of these on each side. If you click on the picture you can see that they’re about 96” long. Yep, the house really is 24’ tall.

The ends of the tracks are machined tongue and groove joints. These are 8 pound tracks, they weigh 8 pounds per foot.

Some assembly required…! That’s a lot of various sizes of nuts and bolts!

About every 10 years or so, depending on how many cycles are run, you have to have the cables replaced. Nationwide Lifts includes the first replacement cables.

This is the floor (at the left) and top (at the right) of the cab. The floor is 3/4” thick aluminum. According to the Omni Aluminum Weight Calculator, that’s about 95 pounds of aluminum.
