Well, the elevator guys brought a Monday with them! They were hoping to get the motor assembly lifted into place, but there simply wasn’t any structure exactly where they needed to place the lifting pully. So, they were only able to assemble the cab today. They’ll bring out a lift on Monday.
The very 1st step - attaching the sliders to the cab side rails. This elevator uses these instead of wheels since its much slower than a commercial elevator.
Next the elevator floor is placed on top of the side rails’ “feet”
A really tough job - drilling the 4 holes in both of those thick steel tracks to mount the motor mount.
The motor mount has been placed at the top of the tracks. The tracks transfer all the weight of the motor, transmission, and cab down to the foundation.
The mount is being used as a temporary support for the winch that picked up the cab so all the bolts that go up through the floor could be placed.
The shaft was prepped for assembly, but that didn’t happen today. This is 35 3/8” long by 2” thick. (Martin note - that’s 2.0005 inches by the Mitutoya electronic caliper or accurate to better than 1/1000 of an inch) It weighs about 35 pounds.
The cab aluminum is complete. The doors, glass, control panel, floor tile and other finishing still needs to be done. There will be 3 lights at the top.
