Monday, August 3 2026 Smoke and Hummers!
Canada is burning again and we’re in level 3 smoke. Hummer traffic has been down, in this heat they don’t have to eat as much.
Wow, it is thick. We have a lot of hummers, not as many as we will have soon.
Look at all the air monitoring stations in from Fort Collins to Pueblo that are almost all yellow and orange! And its coming down from the Canadian wildfires east and south of Hudson Bay. Level 1 goes out into the Pacific a little bit, so we’re solidly in level 3. This is from https://fire.airnow.gov/ .
Wow, a lot of fires in California, Washington and Oregon, but the smoke from them isn’t traveling very far. This is from https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/usfs/map/
The Bird count for July is selected. As you can see we averaged 443 birds/day. It got really hot starting yesterday and the hummer count drops because of that.
