Wednesday, July 1, 2026 Smoke and Hummer Update

    Wow, the light winds have swung the smoke plumes right on top of us. The hummers are gradually increasing in numbers as the season progresses.

The hogback is definitely fuzzy, can’t see the southern plains at all.

We’re near the north edge of level 4, but definitely in it. Every air monitoring sensor around us is yellow with a few showing red! The base URL is https://fire.airnow.gov .

We’ve hit over 500 birds several times now.
