La Mariposa, The Butterfly, is a pretty good Mexican restaurant in Lyons, only 25 minutes away from us, so we dine here fairly often. Martin has been working on this since May, because they redecorate their big butterfly at the end of the room every so often. We’ll keep putting up new pages as the butterfly changes.
That butterfly is about 7 feet tall! Here, on May 6, 2026, its decorated for spring.

On June 23, 2026, its decorated for the FIFA World Cup.
Today, its decorated for the 54th Annual RockyGrass Festival (a bluegrass festival), which happens just north of here.
There are butterflies everywhere! We’re not sure we’ve found them all yet.
One of Martin’s favorites, the barbacoa flautas served with refried beans, Mexican rice, sour cream and a green sauce. They long ago used way too heavy a corn tortilla for this, but when Martin pointed it out, they immediatly fixed the problem! Everything here is just right.
Another pair of Martin’s favorites, the millionare’s margherita and their amazing chips & salsa. The salsa is never quite the same, but is always wonderful.
