Tuesday, July 7, 2026 Plants Showing Off!
You have to shoot when the plants are ready! Therefore these were shot on the 5th and 7th. The smoke diffused the sun, so the light was perfect for the shots.
This isn’t quite the common Indian Firewheel (Gaillardia pulchella Foug), but a related species, Gaillardia Goblin (Gaillardia grandiflora ‘Goblin’). Both are members of the Sunflower family (Asteraceae).
The plants with the yellow flowers are Moonshine Yarrows (A. clypeolata x A. 'Taygetea’). The silvery-green plants to the right of them, growing over the wall, are Snow-In-Summer (Cerastium tomentosum). Common plant names are interesting…
Red Fox Veronica (Veronica spicata) has the red flowers. The Alaska Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum × superbum) has the big white flower.
