May 8, 2026  Griddler 11138 Fly Requires a guess

Martin finally found one that he could solve with just a single guess. I’m not sure this really counts as a guess.

This is all you can get with just simple single line solving. I can’t see how to get anything else, so time to do a probe.

The location of the 3 in column 2 looks like it will be a guess that will be meaningful. If it’s wrong, there are so many filled cells around it, that a conflict will happen quickly and it did. The 3 cells with the crosses are the guess. Drat I didn’t spot the first conflict, the second clue in row 3 is a 1, but the 1st clue in colum 3 is a two and they conflict. I spotted another conflict, marked by the circles, the 4 won’t fit here.

In any case, we now know that the 3 can’t go above.

The next guess, again marked with the crosses is to try the 3 below row 4’s 10. As you can see, this didn’t cause any conflicts and the puzzle was solved with no more probes being necessary.

Should this be counted as guessing?
