Sunday, September 6, 2026 Thunderstorm!

    This was not expected! We got .34” of rain in about 20 minutes, the lightening was intense and we got a surprise.

It is coming down in sheets! The spray made it difficult for Martin to shoot at all. Those rain drops were hitting hard. This was shot starting at 9:33 PM.

What a surprise, the wind was coming out of the south hard enough to carry the rain to the window wall. We’d never seen this happen before.

Martin told the weather station to log rain events a while ago, so we can now calculate the rate much more precisely than when we were using the iPhone stopwatch by hand. 

As you can see our maximum rate of 3.13 inches per hour occured between 21:40:26 and 21:40:49. Martin’s shot was just before this at 21:33 so, as intense as that was, it got even heavier!
